Builded On The Rock

Matthew 7:25   “And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell not:  for it was founded upon the Rock.”

    Thinking about “Through The Flood” (published on 8/31/11) also reminded me of the above Bible verse in Matthew.  When our foundation of faith is built upon Jesus Christ and not the shifting sands of the world, we have a Sure Foundation, a Solid Foundation, a ROCK.
This also reminds me of a hymn I like to sing.  The words and music were written by Mrs. C Rice.

                     I builded on the Rock, on the Rock of God,
                     Builded on the Rock, Christ Jesus:
                     I dug down deep and builded on the Rock,
                     Builded on the Rock of God.

                               Refrain:
                        I hold not the Rock, but the Rock holds me,
                        The Rock holds me, the Rock holds me;
                        I rest on the Rock and the Rock holds me,
                        Resting on the Rock of God.

Why should I fear when the winds sweep by?
Builded on the Rock, Christ Jesus;
Or shaken be when the waves roll high?
Builded on the Rock of God.

      Refrain

Hush, raging  billows at His command,
Builded on the Rock, Christ Jesus.
Oh, peace be still “neath His loving hand!
Builded on the Rock of God.

      Refrain

Praise God for our foundation sure!
                       Builded on the Rock, Christ Jesus;
No storms can harm our home secure,
Builded on the Rock of God.

    Refrain

Psalm 18:2 ” The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
