What Does the Lord Require of Thee?

Micah 6:8  “He has told thee O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

This is one of my favorite Bible verses and over the years I have found much peace from reading it.  During the times when I have felt pressured to do this and do that or when I have felt burdened by the law, or when I have felt pushed to participate in some area of ministry service that I did not have time for or did not feel was right for me, and have felt an uncertainty about what is required of me, I go back to this verse to “see” just what it is that God wants me to do.
God requires that I:

“Do Justly”—I need to walk in holiness in my manner of living and walk in honesty in all my dealings.

“Love Mercy”—-I must be long suffering and forgiving, over-looking the faults of others, out of a spirit of love, remembering always that I am forgiven not just daily but every second of every day.

“Walk humbly with thy God”—-I must walk in obedience to God’s commands, surrendering my will to God’s Will.

If we take these instructions from God’s Holy Word and apply them, then we will certainly be filling ourselves with the Word of God daily and praying daily.  When we do, then our “cup” will begin to get full and very soon it will naturally overflow.  We will want to give out what we have been given by God.  It will not be a forced service, or a “have to” duty, because our service and our witnessing for the Lord will flow naturally, aided by the spiritual gifts God has given each one of us.  Our lives will be a reflection of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Let us ask the Lord to give each of us the grace to follow His instructions.

When I see your blogs posted, I know a blessing is coming!! Before opening this one, I felt God’s peace sweep over me. In His strength and counsel, we can do justly, show mercy, and humbly relate to others’ needs.
